Colors of a Patriot

by Rhodora M Fitzgerald

Death alone can still the red in my veins
and steal the white of my breath in winter.
And only when my final breath has expired
will the blue in my tears fade away.

Powerful writing. Patriotism perfected in your words. A well thought out use of imagery and heartfelt emotion. I really enjoyed this piece.

Rhodora, this is beautiful. Yes, powerful, but not overwhelming. Your words speak with a personal, quiet strength and pride. I have to agree with the other comments. Congratulations on POTD!!!

Congrats on POTD. I especially like the way you used blue. And how unpolitical the poem is even though its about being proud to be an american :)
