Moment....Postponed

by Lisa-Dawn Sparling

You hand sits inches away from mine,
I can feel your energy.
Slowly your hand moves, just an inch closer
So I move mine, an inch closer to yours.
Our fingertips are now touching.
You look over at me, smile and run your finger
Across my hand up my arm to my face.
A trail of goosebumps follows
I smile a weak smile.
You put your hand behind my neck and pull me close,
Our eyes meet. I can feel your lips before they touch mine.
Softly you kiss my mouth and I can feel every hair on my body
Stand tall, electrified.
I pull back, look behind you and smile.
“Your turn to put her back to bed” I say,
and I watch your daughters blonde hair peak from her bedroom door.
I smile as I listen to you recite green eggs and ham
I pick up the remote and flip through the channels.
