road trip excursion by Melissa Arelwe travelled the venom-filled highway tonight
as the steady stream of red lights in front of us
slithered around each bend like a snake
crossing paths with its albino cousin
the sand-papered sky laid before us
and rolled back its scrolls
spilling words from its pages -
they fell in the form of stars
the city lights sprinkled the meaty landscape
seasoning this road trip
filling our senses to overflowing
we sat back satisfied, and all was right with the world.
