I Am Left Undone

by Melissa Arel

I hear footsteps in my elusive dreams -
The soft shuffling of soles upon dampened ground,
Images of tree limbs and blurring bark pass by me
As I steadily pace myself against he who is leading the way.

The Indian blood in me is crying out to be heard;
My plasma boiling, trying to be reconciled
Back unto my roots from which I came, I look to nature for answers
As it leads me back to the Creator of heaven and earth.

A God of wonders is He.

The trees sway their arms in holy praise, bowing in awe -
Even the rocks cry out and worship!
The birds call out to one another in song, declaring
The awesomeness of the Father.

I listen to the call of the crickets as they tell testimonies
Of His unchanging ways, and the fireflies spread the message
Shining with the light of Christ – their inspiration.
I am struck by this choir of creation as I ponder their words.

I am left undone by this beauty.
Dissolved into silence by their perfection, I breathe easy
And lay claim to that which has taken ahold of me: Peace.
