White Wicker Chairs

by Amber B

Simple rain
falling yet again
On the bottom stair
As I sit in the white
wicker chair

Embracing the scent
that overwhelmes
even the strongest of
hearts

Nostalgia overcomes
as I remember
the times I spent
discussing this very
moment with my one true
love

And through this rain
this simple rain
I see him pacing
through the blanketed
wetness
A large green umbrella in
one hand
a dozen roses in the other

His vision blurred
as he sauntered
upon my house
hair dripping wet
onto his forehead
holding tight
to the dozen red roses
carefully wrapped
so as not to get wet

And I watched
as his eyes lit up
at the sight of
my smile
and we embraced
and the dozen red roses
were put aside

As we sat together
to watch the simple rain
fall yet again
flooding the stairs
while we cuddled
in the white
wicker chairs
