What The Heck

by Anne Engelen

Change the way you think

Try to have a positive look on life

Look at the things you do have

Look in the mirror and try to see what others see

Stop this pity-act, just be yourself

Don’t you just love people’s concern?

          JUST BE YOURSELF

                What a laugh!!

Everyone seems to have an opinion

   about how to be me

about what’s supposed to make me happy

about what I’m supposed to see

Yet they don’t take the time

To try to understand how the heck I feel

My feelings,my emotions

  They are my drive

  They make me tick

  They are so darn real

And yes...to them I stick

Going against them

A total energy absorbent act

It’s consuming me alive

Just another sad fact

I hate to admit “I” am losing this battle

I, emotions and reason combined

The reason is ready to surrender

My feelings , no longer defined

So tell me , mirror, honestly

The image you reflect of what you see

Is that still me?

I can sure relate to this one, and in answer to your question, this is the mirror speaking, "yes that's still you." :o)

I think your writing just gets better and better; this is wonderful, something I really relate to

In reflection it is a good reflection....Charlie

Now you did it. You made me self-conscious and got me checking the mirror. I'm off to see the plastic surgeon tomorrow. Good stuff Angel! Peace...

Self reflection can sometimes be tough especially when change is coming or is needed. And yet, can anyone else ever truly know us? Good introspective and revealing piece here Anne.
