simple equation

by Brynn Dizack

if i was
a lava lamp
i would
bubble &
be drowning but pushing
up to the top only to
cool & sink
back to

lightbulb=you

moth
me
dusty wings
flap
frantically and
window blinds
snap up cord whips around
bar and now shade is
out-of-reach; i am blinded by

you=lightbulb, i
cannot look away
circle
circle
circle
flutter.

i am doing blank like
you wish
blank check this
blank look you're giving me
doesn't dim your sixty-watt glow, no, you are
nothing compared to what i was thinking of
sinking into you
deep-end-disguised-as-kiddie-pool
moth cannot
get wet but
still i am
doing time blank
death wish
lift gun to temple
release safety latch
finger to trigger and
blank.

i know that you will
burn out
e v e n t u a l l y.
