Dying Inside

by Holly H Dunne

Inside me there's a battle, an awful raging war
My heart and soul are fighting, it's too pianful to ignore
My heart is guarding a guilty little secret
My soul doesn't understand why it wants to keep it
My soul is on fire and forbidden passions burn
My heart throws water, wants the soul to learn
They slash each other up and bleed through tears I'm crying
Soon there will be nothing left; I fear they'll end up dying
Then I'll have no heart or soul, I'll be an empty shell
But at least a shell can't cry, or feel this aching hell
