collapse/relapse (versions)

by Andrew S Adams

head on collisions
with phantom walls
stare deep into the empty void
of the twisted nothings
do you try to fail?
do you try at all?
when the world in front is wide open
you run into a wall
you know the vein is open
you have the knife in hand
go stab someone else
and then again stab yourself
so theyll see you bleed
their attention is what they feed
to give into your need
to satisfy your greed
and one by one the people leave
walk away from you
your blinded by your own blood
and you're finding no one new
your world is giving in
collapsing on your soul
the thoughts that you could win
should have left you long ago

but you're still here
running the same old game
and every new crowd exhausted
you've only got yourself on which to pray
so try and take
it out on the world.
you'll feel better.
