New Poem

by Paul Little

New poem

Some might say I’ve lost my way
Gone off the rails,
Strayed from the path.
What do they know?
What do they care
That I can’t write anymore?

I might say I've lost the will,
Become to lazy
Or can’t be bothered.
I should know,
I should care
That I can’t write anymore.

Maybe I have lost my muse,
The old trigger is no longer there
Am I too happy?
Or maybe too sad
All I am sure of is
That I can’t write anymore.

No one has died recently,
Well, no one that I knew,
Or even cared about,
So another tribute poem is lost.
So it doesn’t really matter
That I can’t write anymore.

Haha, I know how it feels, lol. I find my writers block poetry to be really clumsy, but this isn't nearly as clumsy as one would think it to be.... good nonetheless :)

A good little poem to remind all us poets that the muse is not always present. Congrats on POTD! Well worth the read Paul.

oh, but the muse was 'there' ... and the poem has been written. Congratulations on POTD!

Yes, you've written your way out of it. The contemplation is a powerful one though, invoking the passionate, tragic, joyous, emotional fires that could possible set the spark...finally concluding even with those the muse needs to be present to express them. My husband says though, poetry is like math--it needs to "incubate"--it is in there working on you...watch and let it turn and spiral in its time... be confident as you were...really underneath... as your passion for writing expressed itself out of all your musings in this perfect potd!
