war across seas
so far from our homes
these are not our battles
and we are not their drones
simple but trivial things
guns and bombs and WMDs
all these disenfranchised wondering
why we create misunderstandings

why must we fight to die
to prove our countries status
as the schoolyard bully
we, the united states
do we need out power fix
is that what this is for
all their little mind tricks
that make you want their war?

and as i turn off the news
ready to vent my views
i stop and think to myself
this is vaguely familiar
to the feeling every night
these thoughts are nothing new
even if my mind is right
these thoughts are never new.
