In the Blink by David R Spellman
Indescribable with
words are some
things like the way
clouds were formed
in the western sky,
this evening, gray and
overcast a day it was
surprising to see that
brighter picture evolve
into something more
than an interesting sight.
I had moved to the porch,
to enjoy the evening and
indulge in a puff off
of my infrequent cigar
waiting for me there
unlit and unassuming.
The folds and ripples,
those masterful strokes,
those whisked brushings
of impressions which
somehow reminded me
of you, whose face I saw
a perfect eye, closed
in a wink, its painted lash
the most wonderful scene
that night, only wishing
I could have shared
with you a longer time.

Posted by Anne Howe on 12/05/02 at 10:04 PM how carefully and quietly this tale unfolds leaving me with a smile on my face and off with the fairies lol thank you |
Posted by Kate Demeree on 12/06/02 at 11:52 PM It is lovingly beautiful and achingly touching. One almost feels as if they sat there by your side watching as the painting unfolds. Thank you for sharing a sunset. |
Posted by Richard Paez on 12/09/02 at 06:52 PM This brings tears to my eyes, David. From the title to the last, longing line, I read through the blurred vision, the fish-eyed lens of tears. Thank you, Brother. |
