Forever One

by Adrian Calhoun

Across the ocean miles,
rich in its history,
untouched by the hands of time,
there is a country we call Scotland.

Where bloody battles once took place,
fought for many reasons.
Who was to live in this land,
who would rule this nation,
and for the magical secrets she holds.

For those who stood proud,
willing to lay down their lives
for her freedom,
she, the land, was their strength.
And they loved her dearly.

They stood strong,
they are still standing strong !
For this land they bled and died,
forever strengthening the bond,
to ensure Scotlands roots.

To this day,
the call is heard thousands of miles away.
As a piper from the mist,
she hauntingly cries like a mother,
for all of her children, the clans, to return.

Why, some may ask,
are those feelings so powerful?
What is her mysterious magic?

In every Scotsmans blood,
there is a part of her, the land.
In her, the land,
our blood runs deep.

For you see,
Scotland, and all of her clans,
are one.

That my friends,
is the reason behind the power,
and the magic.

Centuries ago,
in the midst of all those battles,
the land and blood mixed,  forever !

A colorful, poignant, proud look at the power of "myth"--that is those tales and values which make up a people at their core. Never quite get away from them on some level. The ending very powerful!

What beautiful landscaping you have painted in my mind. Powerful words in a poignant piece. Great work!
