Tom Got Lucky This Year (Turkey day Challenge)

by Anne Engelen

It’s true what you’ve just heard

Tom got lucky that’s the word

He got his ticket at the annual turkey fair

and won first prize, so there

For him it’s a feast

he won’t end up as a slaughtered beast

Not as dinner, but as a guest

he’s invited to Washington D.C.

The president will personally shake his wing

while the national anthem they will sing

His prize: a presidential pardon

granting Tom another year of freedom

A worthwhile “Thanksgiving”

for Tom another year of living!

Some say this might fatten Tom up for next year, but I say it makes him a tough ol' bird, hehe. Good stuff (no pun intended) Anne. Peace...
