It's Cold Out Tonight
by Cathlyn CartierIt's cold out tonight,
but you know that,
you're walking to your car right about now.
I wonder if you thought about me today,
like I've been thinking about you.
Since you quit answering the phone when I call,
and fail to return my messages,
I no longer bother to try...
but I can't stop thinking,
praying that you're ok,
hoping this is just another of your phases and that nothing is wrong.
I know you're thinking about me,
you're just afraid to call because you can't explain why you do this,
and I've ceased to try to figure it out.
It's cold out tonight,
but you know that, and you aren't here to keep me warm,
so I'm going to bed with my clothes on. 11/25/2002 Author's Note: This isn't even close to being "great" poetry, and I make no pretenses. It's what I felt/feel, and besides, at least I'm not rhyming now! = )
