usurping king of american't by Betania TeschAnd, so, the republicans won,
though I can't say we're any worse off
because donkeys and elephants
both love oil just the same.
And we're still gonna ride those broncos
of airstrikes like the cowboys we are
over to Iraq.
And we're still gonna get whatever we want
through bullying bribery and whining--
just the typical scare tactics
of a country too powerful
to remember the difference between
right and wrong
is not the same as the difference
between profitable and expendable.
And our king reigns with his
iron-fisted propaganda
and his henchmen at his side
banging war drums and pumping oil
into their bloodstreams.
And I find it quite funny
that we all can just sit back
and watch it go by on our TV screens
and flip over to re-runs of Friends
when we get bored. 11/10/2002 Author's Note: yeah....

| Posted by Glenn Currier on 11/11/02 at 06:16 AM Thank you, dear Bethany, for giving voice to the anger I have been trying to suppress lest I fall into another Reagan-era depression. This past Monday I was also reminded of those painful Vietnam years when friendships ended and the gulf between me and my father widened. Good work, my lady... I like your toughness and your courage. |
