Questions Without Answers

by Cathlyn Cartier

Why are you running?
Is there anything you cannot face,
Any foe you cannot conquer?

From what are you running?
Do you sense the presence of some unknown danger,
Or is it fear born from a familiarity,
Déjà vu,
A flashback to some previous pain?

To where are you running?
Have you lost confidence in the underlying friendship
That has permeated our relationship and infused our daily lives?

The distance that you put between us
At times leaves me torn and confused.
Is it me,
Or further commitment that drives you away,
Or is it something else entirely?

Everything that was once so wonderful has now changed form,
Metamorphosed before my eyes.

Suddenly, now there is a void between us,
Like a cosmic black hole,
All of my questions go tumbling in,
Seemingly lost forever,
And I stand alone on the precipice,
Waiting for answers that may never come.

Another relevant relationship piece, that asks all the right questions, but like my own Platonic Line poem, few answers. Superbly communicated Cath!
