Wondering

by Anne Engelen

My tree is bare

Stripped naked from its leaves

Vulnerable

Like veins it stretches its branches

Reaching out into thin air

Defying howling winds

Facing future’s despair

Another change of season?

Another phase in life?

Or is there more to it than meets the eye?

Accepting fate

Out there

alone

Wondering if Spring

Once more

Will come along

Thank goodness for this season. It gives me an unusually fertile universe to explore my losses and gains and the transitions that make up my life. Your poem does all of this with soul added.

A perfect poem for the season and an excellent comparison to life, including the hope for a new beginning in spring!
