Braided Mind

by Julie Adams

braided mind
finds loopholes
in the vines of
ancestory, and tries to
find roots
tie boots tight
stand tall

let down your hair
swing through your locks
'chile
and the Dreamtime Stories
will come
as sure as those braids
are rooted deep within
