Awakening

by Anne Engelen

Feeling lost, aimless in life

is the result of taking my battle

of independency too far

As a winner I stand alone

I’m my own person

Once....shouted proud

Now....I’m down and out

Still my own person

But what does that mean?

Total   D  E    A   C   H     M     E      N         T

It’s not a dream

A living nightmare that’s what it is

When you pull away from life

from the surrounding world

You can’t hide from the real you

As part of a bigger whole

I too have to play my own role

As trivial as that may seem

It’s the missing link in the total scheme

Trying to connect to life itself

Searching my way

Accepting my tinyness in this universal setting

Is the beginning of growth

Hoping to find a way

to finetune in on the important issues

of “being” (human) and the purpose of my life

Nicely stated Anne. Very introspective. I like the title and see by the text you have come to the realization that detachment is the key. The question then remains, detachment form what? Those answers can only come from within, through the process of transcendence from knowing to being. I for one look forward to the sequel. Peace...

Although I don't think this is one of your best, once again, a good self assurance therapy piece, Anne. I too write these from time to time and they sure help cause then we can look at a portion of our own life from the outside. :o)

i liked the way you wrote "detachment" the stretching of the word defines it. very clever. i'm also amazed at how many comments you get. this one work of yours has nearly as many as i have in total. i guess that means you're a good writer. what's that say about me? hmmmmm :)
