Last Dance (Serenade)

by Jersey D Gibson

All those magical times,

slowly come into a fade.

the last notes have been struck,

the last steps have been made.

The bad starts to pick up,

and the lights begin to undim.

slowly coming out of a trance,

longing for where you've been.

Go and dance the last dance,

for you may not get another chance.

Go and sing the last song,

and be sure to sing loud and long.

Coming out of a lover's embrace,

go ahead and have a last kiss.

Remember all the good times you had,

and don't forget what you miss.

Now the lights are fully on,

and you've taken the last step.

It's time to take your leave,

and take memories that you will have wept.

Although I think that last line could be improved, especially the word 'wept,' some very good lines elsewhere Jersey. Especially like: Go and dance the last dance, for you may not get another chance. Go and sing the last song, and be sure to sing loud and long.
