This Too, Shall Pass

by Jersey D Gibson

I go down through my life, I try to pass the test,

I've seen it all, the good and evil, the foul and fair.

I've wandered paths less taken, my choices haven't been best,

but this is my life, and I don't want your's to compare.

-When I see skies fading into grey,

-I know that the darkest days can't last.

-When I can't find the right in any way,

-The wisest man will say, this too, shall pass.

Another gunshot rings out, another life is cut short,

death has dialed your number, and you answered it's call.

Another child cries out for its' father, he goes with that sort,

life is never easy, wonder why go through it at all?

-Now the skies fall upon your head,

-the Sunday crowds gather for Mass.

-Follow the path in which you've led,

-and know that, this too, shall pass.

Fitting poem for our times. Yes, let's pray all this madness does pass.

Congratulations on POTD. Philosophical with a sense of resignation I think! You have some keen Biblical references. Also, a willingness to accept responsibility for your life. Lots to ponder in this thoughtful poem about life and death.

You have fashioned a very introspective verse, Jersey. A message for all to take with them. Congratulations on becoming Poet Of The Day. Peace...jadi
