Roads

by Lori I Wolfe

The breeze blows cold
It runs through like ice
Traveling inside the veins
It’s reaching out like a vice
Walking within the rain
Afraid of what’s up ahead
Shivering with each step
Dredging along with dread
Everyday it grows dimmer
This road seems so long
Lost within the pain
The music is all wrong
Life’s roads can be winding
One must take what unfolds
Learn the lessons it gives
To get to the roads of gold
