You Can't Get Popeye Cigarettes Anymore

by Corey Drover

Inkblot shaped water stains my papers
Writing from years past but I'm not worried
It will dry and be as good as new
It's something I can get back

You can't get popeye cigarettes anymore
Nor can you get back your youth
No matter how much you try
or get back the girl that got away
No matter how much you try

Some memories are gone forever
Like the day when a pepsi was a quarter
and MC Hammer was tearing up the charts
I chased a dream down a sunken path
You I'll not follow

Popeye's cigarettes are his candy sticks now
Just like I'll love you forever is now an empty promise
Open the floodgates and wash away the past
So I made a big mistake, won't happen again
