I Can Only Dream of You

by Ken Harnisch

It is more than wishing you were here
Your form clinging to me
Your soft lips upon my own
It is more than merely holding you
Though holding you, I would be
As man arisen to that perfect state
Where love and the purity of the soul
Are joined in holy matrimony.

I can only dream of you, and in my dreams
The life I cannot have is mine
In all its sweet sublimity
Your arms enfold me
Your lips carry me to pillows
Where the harsh sunlight cannot tell
Tales upon the face of our rendezvous
With destiny and desire.
In those dreams, I love you
In the shadows and the light
And no one calls you home
Who isn’t me.

I'm just going through your past-posted poems, and I can't help but be moved by all of them.. they are so beautiful and full of passion.. you can sense the emotion that they were written in.. Incredible, Ken..

So extremely sweet and touching. Its one of those poems where if it were published, many women would read it and sigh, wishing it were written for them
