Forgiven

by Melissa Arel

Forgotten, abandoned -

These are words I know well.

They make me cringe

As if in the midst of a fiery hell.

But as I stand here before the Cross,

All my burdens become obsolete

As I see the tear-stained cheek

Of the One who died for me.

My problems become foolish;

My Saviour looks at me,

A tear in His eye, He whispers

'How I do love thee..'

I kneel before the King

Who holds the world in His hand -

That tossed the stars in the sky

And created the heavens that glorify.

I realize in blood, He bought my soul

And I, selfish in myself

Do not realize the price He has paid;

Submission I have stole.

The Father turned His face

Not to look upon His Son, full of sin

He turns away.

But I, blessed from His grace

Have a chance to live and tell of His ways.

Forgotten, abandoned -

These are words I thought I knew well.

'Til I saw them defeated

When my Jesus took the keys of Death

To the door of Satan's hell
