Not About Him by Kitty NessThis poem is not about him.
It is about the little sounds,
little tragedies, tiny fierce
candles of truth growing dim.
This poem is not about him.
It speaks of recent fruitless solo
voyages, filled with new faces
turned away, kept safely dim.
This poem is not about him.
Instead, it focuses on subjects
far more sophisticated, reduced
to pathetic old men, reluctantly dim.
This poem is not about him,
but about the way the promise
of a thunderstorm can calm the
manic straining of a heart newly dim.
This poem is not about him!
Absence deserves no thoughtful placing
of words to describe it.
The feeling of a bright light suddenly dim. 08/29/2002 Posted on 08/29/2002 Copyright © 2025 Kitty Ness

Posted by Philip F De Pinto on 01/30/14 at 12:47 PM I love the way you cobble words together into so many meaningful and subtle and musical combinations, the all of which hit home on so many levels, and that last stanza is just the icing on the tort. Absence deserves no thoughtful placing of words to describe it. indeed. |
