Psst...Come (darkness is not always evil)

by Rommel Cruz

Psst...
Come... I'm here in the dark.
Waiting.
Lurking.
Come, hold my hand
Feel its warmth.
Its numbness.
Brush away your worries.
Feel what's it like to be free.
Come, open your mind
To the realities of life;
To the complexities of man.
Come, don't to be ashamed
Don't be a fool.
Don't be deceived.
Darkness is not always evil.
And the light is not always a blessing.
Come....

Author's Note: [repost] This is some sort "soft rebellion" against stereotyping. It has similarities with "Life washed away" to the way it is written as I wrote this after the mentioned poem. I like short, choppy sentences. =)

Wow! This is so amazing. I agree with Kerilynn - very seductive. I feel like I'm being hypnotized, like I'm being drawn towards this poem. I noticed the last two lines of this poem in your bio and wondered where they came from...

It's like jumping into the unknown. To take a risk and really live!! Therefor the darkness, the unknown, might just be the light you're seeking! Wonderful poem!

This a sharp and intriguing write. Excellent use of imagery. Shadows and darkness. Nice work.

Great plea and invitation. Excellent word choice and theme. I've always believed that healing takes place in the night. Thanks for posting this one.

I like how this turns around and sees darkness as sometimes good, despite how it is depicted in most poetry. (However, it will not convince me to stop being afraid fo the dark!)
