i loved you last night

by Melissa Arel

i loved you last night
and even the moon's stillness
could not behold Love's beauty

as i touched your face
i felt my spirit cry with the wet tears
that kissed your lips

and then i understood what it meant to be alive

we carved a star into the sky's soul
as it gathered our dreams to its bosom
and i held you close to me
hearing your heart beat in rhythm
to each of my sighs

yes, i loved you last night
and i now know i shall love you
all the more hereafter

Love the imagery. Especially about the moon's stillness.

There are nights in our lives more lovely than all the others combined...you have painted the portrait of just such a night, Mel, and done so beautifully!

i love it, it's absolutely beautiful, and the line "and then i understood what it meant to be alive" is so truethful when you find someone you love...
