Clay And Water

by Melissa Arel

I am clay and I am water.
From whence I came, I will return -
When all my words have run dry
And all my thoughts fall to the ground
My dreams will float away into the clouds
And gather among the stars;
Held in the palms of my ancestors before me..
For I am an imperfect vessel
Perfected by the hands of God.
