and it was beautiful

by Betania Tesch

I think I most enjoyed
watching you dress
and brush your teeth
like a creature
practicing some ancient magick
from a book I vaguely remember
in the manner that
these normal things
on you seem like prose
and like rituals
performed to squeeze joy
from life
as do all of your actions
because you
emit waves of humid happiness
all over me
and I cannot help
but drop my jaw and revel
in the sheer marvel
of your life
colliding with mine
to form this sticky mess
of blurred percerptions
and simple knowledge
that this is why
I wake up--to watch you dress
to watch you live.
(to be read whilst listening to Nick Drake's "From the Morning")

You describe a lovely love scene with gentle strokes and with a sensuous caress of the reader allowing us a shared moment of intimacy.
