Alone at a Movie

by Ronald A Pavellas

There is an ineffable sadness
In standing in line
Sitting in the theater
Alone.

How can I enjoy a good show
Without her sitting next to me?

Little nods of her head
Touches of her hand on mine
My hand on her arm
My glancing at her rapt eyes
Her tear-stained cheeks
Our hands will sometimes clasp

Sigh!

So, I sit alone
As the nice old theater
Plays good jazz
The lights full on
Before the showing

My writing pad and pen
Are my allies, my friends
My companions
As I wait for the movie to start

Alone

Being without and suddenly everything is unejoyable and lonely..maybe we forget ourselves while so wrapped with another? so well written! I can relate!
