Easter --- reflected in the Flowers

by Audrey M Scott

Today is Easter Friday,
the day beautiful bright
in light already glowing
the first softness of season change.

Startled, I notice from my window
the Rose of Sharon bush in
full fresh bloom,
the soft white flowers
glowing ethereal in the sunlight.

It seems more beautiful than
I had remembered in other seasons.
Until now, I had not noticed
it bloomed at Easter time.

Gazing upon it, I cannot
relate a chocolate bunny,
or chocolate frog, but yes,
I can relate the symbolizing
of Easter egg with new life.

Rebirth in the Spirit of God
--- underlining the fact it was
once lost to man.

The day slips by to mid-day.
Again drawn to view the
ethereal glow of purity in the
flowers, --- they glow beautifully,
but now with the faint pink
bleeding into soft pale petals.
ItÂ’s like watching them silently
weep tears of blood.

Before the day is finished
I see the flowers are pink.
As though a new dawn falls upon me
my thoughts fly to acknowledgment
that He bled on the Cross for us;
making us clean by His gift, which
is ours when we reach out and take
acceptance of it.

Rose of Sharon you bloom
beautifully this Easter Friday.

Like an opal shining its ice fire colours within,
the flowers burn the Easter message
into my heart.

This was her last Easter here then...what a beautiful poem this is. She knew who her Savior was!
