`` Nameless Face

by Amy M Fitch

Deranged, secluded, and aware,
Alone in a crowd of a billions.
Thoughts of darkness,
The numbness is scared.

I will wait;
Today is just my hiding place.

I heard my voice echo to me,
But the tones were unfamiliar.
Thought I would scream until I could bear,
But no one would really hear me.

My eyes are clear,
And yours are gray,
Clouded and oblivious.
I pity you,
Yet I loathe you,
I'm not sorry that I cannot help it.

I will stand here,
And I will watch you stay there.
And I will know all that you cannot.
And I will feel all that you cannot.
And I will hate your innocence.

The first word pretty much caps it, but you have fleshed this out with frightening inner thoughts and one remembers the tiny cliff some of us teeter on. Most effective.

You definitely succeeded in capturing a certain type of darkness. This poem named a face of fear. Scared numbness. Been there, done that. Congrats on POTD!
