Mirror :: rorriM

by Melissa Arel

I look in the mirror, what is that I see?
What secrets lie in those dark black eyes?
What mysteries sit upon that brow so brown?
What tender whispers come from those lips?
What light shines in that flowing hair?
What kisses have those cheeks held so dear?

I look in the mirror, who is it I see?
Who is that girl staring back at me?

I look in the mirror, is it me? Is it me?
How could it be?

Thats not the one I know who has cried at nights
and put plastic smiles on during the day...
Thats not the one I know who has held friends
so close to her bosom that they have become one with her heart...
Thats not the one who has surrendered her whole being to her Creator...

No, thats not me. It couldn't be.

I stare in the mirror.
Those eyes, those brows, those lips, that hair, those cheeks -
They all become shapes. Just shapes.
Not good or bad.

I look in the mirror, who is that I see?

Its me. Its me.
