digging deep, i feel my conscience burn -
i am eluded with my own self
hiding from complacency
and whitewashing my existence
i've shed yet another coat of skin
to find the fear and the folly
bolted in my bludgeoned heart
consuming every breathing second
i still grasp onto those childish ideals
that i never seemed to put away
but life has marked me with ash
and the sacrifice is so bittersweet
