A Little Piece of Me is Gone

by Jane E Pearce

A little piece of me is gone,
imperceptible to the eye;
its absence yields a greater heft
than that of flesh and bone.
The minus mutes music's lilt,
and pales the garden leaf,
as days cascade into one
to march in steps of grief.
A little piece of me is gone,
mundane hours fill the day,
interrupted by memories
of those Eternity took away.

Hi Jane, Your poem is lovely, but sad. Sounds like you've lost a loved one resently or awhile back. Yes, it's very hard to lose them, at least you know their not in anymore pain. After mourning is over, it's takes time. You'll need to pick up the pieces and continue on with life. Life goes on. They'll always be in your heart. Hope you feel peace within yourself soon. Peace & Joy, Jean.

This is a beautifully written poem, but very sad. Thank you for writing this. It is a reminder that we all must say good-bye at some point to people we hold dear to us.

Jane, I love this poem - it just helped me realize what it is about the way I've been feeling. Thank you for such a warm, sincere poem.
