body and earth by Melissa Arel
the water
pelts against
my softened skin
and soaks
me to the bone
it rolls
off my forehead
and sits
on my eyelashes
slowly dripping
down my cheek
pooling
onto my lips
i part my mouth
open
and invite
its wet kisses
overflowing
it finds
its way south
and runs freely
until it reaches
my toes
licking
the moisture
from my life's gateway
i close
my eyes
and take in
every last drop
the rain
has to offer
as it
washes
cleanses
nourishes
purifies
both
body and earth.
