inspiration "the process" by Rachelle Howeslumped over, stuck in
indian style
(posture still in disarray)
i lean over a nude page,
images festering within
an antsy, exhausted brain.
inspiration, a tricky friend
and foe, ambushes at ideal,
or inopportune intervals...
rushing in like some crazed savior
to unlock the gates of revelation,
or trample insight beneath
unfeeling hooves.
still, in the dim lighting
of a burning wick or flickering lamp,
i play dress up with ink and page,
garnishing the lines in
emotion-soaked images; festering
within an antsy, exhausted brain.
