Like Desert Night

by Audrey M Scott

Where are you my love?
Don't depart yet …. without you it’s
dark and cold like desert night.
You lie so quiet in cool white sheets.

My precious warm light
shine again unto my soul,
nurture and comfort me,
let me keep you near.

Crowned with your love
we are one;
hold me close,
let me see in your eyes and feel
their soft warm kiss.

Don't soar away across bare desert sands,
fill this place and make it flourish
like a garden.
Bask me in the sunshine of you,
allow me taste it in the tower
of our love.

I fear cold emptiness alone,
don't slip away my lovely one,
I hold your hand, gaze upon your face.
Our lives entwined
have waltzed in grace.

Where there be a valley there be a hill.
Let me feel again the crest,
for without you I shall know that valley
and it's dark cold reaches of desert.

Before you fade beyond the limn
let there be dawn in your eyes,
share it with me.
Bear our loves sweet light
before the angels fly with you this night.
