Dandelion Ride

by Glenn Currier

Dandelion parachute
essence of Free –
it flies unthinking.
"Kiss and leave" is
its ride unblinking.

No ugly divorce,
intention or schedule –
its windnotes are sung
in a million tongues
but "deliberate"
is a foreign state.

It loves the earth...but...

Confined in a room
it gets confused
kicked around
and abused
flung away
by sneeze or broom
its no-route ways
may mean its doom.

So if I take
the dandelion ride
and try to make
a life inside
where outcomes count
and people wait,
I need to know
my no-root fate.

Ahhh! The laws of nature applied to life in its simplest form. A poignant and well written verse of a flower in the making. Peace...jadi

it's a pellmell twirly ride, metaphoric for how crazily people may lead their lives, but you're right, human and flower alike need to root at some point to fulfill living

A tad bit fearful, I think. I also feel that our new modern nomadic lifestyle is somewhat damaging to the culture. Not setting roots... very profound poem that leaves me thinking.
