bookstore rises... by Deborah S ReganBookstore rises where a dozen cows mooed about;
Coffee steam surrounds groups of strangers
Auditory pools overlap ambiguously
Chessboard shifts with legs crossing in waves
Phantom bovines arise bipedally
Ears pricking up at the latest Harry Potter
Preferring cappuccino with chocolate drizzles
Wonderment at all the appreciation of dairy
They sniff at the supplants, hardly grazing
Interrupting peace with nonsense babble
(But marvel at the sumptuous atmosphere
And relief from the elements outside).
And a reader betrays himself on his wrist
Casual chair envelops the watch machinery noise,
Further documentation of ever more distant origins,
Cow's hooves sinking deliciously in near-mud

Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 07/22/16 at 02:37 AM Great mix of then and now, those bovines bipedally arising, "wonderment at all the appreciation of dairy" is such a fine line. Congrats on POTD! Fav. |
