Lost Hope

by Holly H Dunne

strong fresh stem rises to the sun
sweet nectar seeps out
intoxicating scent of the perfume fooling your mind
comfortable blanket of denial cushions you
warm glow makes you shiver
as your limbs begin to snow
icicle stabs you and you watch your soul bleed
it freezes emotion and locks your heart
the petals flutter
carpet the groud to decay
the burning flame is extinguished by the waters of this world
heaven once kissed your fingertips
now its snatched away
now a naked frozen twig stands alone
in a forest of misery

Holly, these two lines especially caught my attention, "icicle stabs you and you watch your soul bleed it freezes emotion and locks your heart..." You have woven your words into a fine, visual and emotional display of misery at its finest. Yes, I've been there. Thanks for writing this.
