Face of the River by Audrey M Scott
Yesterday,
gusty strong winds whipped its
countenance into furrows,
swiping the peaks of waves into
white frothy sprays, which frolicked to
the winds teasing.
Today it is a picture of quietness,
gray dimpled waters winking in
soft daylight.
From the banks, reflected tree shadows,
a reminder of the beauty of its many faces.
In the reeds a lone white Egret, stilted,
slowly steps searching out a meal.
