Simple Gifts
by Cathlyn CartierA wild flower,
plucked by a child's hand and given to another.
A stolen kiss,
quickly brushed across your face.
A bird's melodious tune,
as the sun rises on a new morning.
A newborn baby's soft gurgle,
as he lies nestled to his mother's breast.
A rainbow faintly glimmering,
after a springtime shower.
A grandfather's story,
on a porch swing on a sultry summer afternoon.
A friend's laughter.
A smile shared.
A hug for no reason at all.
The little gifts of life,
Every day,
that make living so much sweeter.
