I Heard a Snake Beyond the Wall

by Leonard M Hawkes

I heard a snake
Beyond the wall,
But as I
Peeped to see,
Its golden eyes
Averted, and
All I saw
Was me.

And thus I felt
Its writhing,
Felt its lust,
Its hate;
And White,
It slithered
Stormward, wetly
To its fate.

This introspective poem offers a striking divaricate in the subtleness of knowing and the possibilities that lurk within. The title points to juxtiposition and your terse text supportive in it's claim. pe4ce...

An eerie inner look.
