Love
it sneaks
up on you
like loyal soldiers
in an unending battle
to mend a heart
broken
by years of misuse
and abuse
and something clicks
like a loaded gun
cocked and aimed
and the bullet strikes
right in the chest
and white lights
dance before your eyes
and blissful moments
run through your mind
and then you come
crashing down
into love's
outstretched arms
and you feel
you could
die
with that love
though frantically you try
to hold on
to life
and love's
outstretched arms
encircle you
letting you live
within the warmth
and gradually
things come into
focus
and you realize
how much you missed
how much you took for granted
before that feeling
of love
