The Quiet Corner of Circumstance

by Julie Adams

Weeping willow
cry over me--
a lowly weed
in your towering shade

drown my infested pain
in your lush embrace
feed my desire
under your filtered light
tickle my stem
with your rooted fingers
and in return,
in return,

in contrast
my polluted presence
will fuel the splendor
of your speckled trunk
and tender trestles

my pungent defiance
will twitch in the eye
of the gardener, who's
long forgotten that
Eve took the blame
for us all.

Beautiful. Nearly perfect flow, and I think the transition from the 2nd to the 3rd stanza could be improved, thus making the flow flawless ;)-
