Something Special

by Audrey M Scott

From the chalice of you
I drink from your rim,
sweet fragrant fermented memories
of the ocean of us.

Youthful love budding in bright
trumpeting joy,
like steam rising from a teacup to
billowing clouds in golden sunset,
blushing to rose
in whispering winds of passion.

Cupped in carved nudity, desire
spills its form to
translucent smooth glass of forever,
in which the stars of our eyes twinkle
through its marbled transparency,
as succulent lips press their image.

Love’s fingers untangle long braided hair
unraveling it through time to aged feet,
brushing them with sacred oil,
conserving youthful sensitivity
in refinement of maturity.

In dye cast eternal, the original brushstroke
of youthful love lingers
like new wine now matured in aging casks,
and the ocean of us always embraced in
love’s surrounding shores,
forever bridged from beginning to end.
