White ghost gum trees stark
against the hillside, their dark
green crowns blending
against the ground foliage.
Bright trunks and spindled branches
a delight to any artist.

Grey granite boulders in tumbled
formation grace the slopes which
fall away to flats of summer-dried
pasture.

Pale blue sky with scant thin white
tuft-tipped wind-blown clouds, add
to the scenic splendour.

A hot breath of air too weak to
turn the bladed wheel of the windmill,
while droning bees buzz around the
trough for water, and dried skeletons
of wild radish plant gathered by the
wind, rest baking brittle in the hot sun.
